The CSCS (Construction Skills Certification
Scheme) Card is an essential card for
all the people who work in the construction industry. The reason it is mandatory is because it provides a proof of an
individual being fully aware of the health and safety implications of working
on a Construction site. Not only that, the level of CSCS Card that a particular
individual holds, also gives employers an indication to the level of
qualifications an individual has and their level of competence in their
particular field. The higher the level of CSCS Card an individual has the more
job prospects they are likely to achieve. The qualifications that are most
popular in the construction industry are Construction NVQ's (National
Vocational Qualifications).
A CSCS Card can only be gained by passing
the appropriate CSCS Test. This test comprises of 50 multiple choice questions
and has a duration of 45 minutes. The test is all about health and safety on
site. However, all construction trades differ and the risk of working on site
will differ from one site to another. Therefore , it is important that an
individual takes the correct CSCS test depending upon their current job description
and level of responsibility i.e may be a manager or supervisor.
Overall the importance of a CSCS is not
only mandatory from a legal point of view but also can increase chances of job
prospects for an individual.
